Patient Support

We offer patients, families and healthcare professionals around the country a number of support systems, ways to connect and keep informed.

In-person and online kōrero and catch-ups

We believe that sometimes the best support can often be found by meeting others who are going through a similar journey. With this in mind, we try to facilitate and offer opportunities for patients and families to meet in a relaxed manner.

There are patient catch-ups around the country that are organised in local cafes so you can easily attend and meet others without feeling any pressure to stay or contribute in a group environment, come and go as you please.

Join our online community -  Private Facebook NET Patient Group & Facebook Page

Our closed NET NZ Patient Group offers patients from around the country a chance to connect online. This group is specifically for New Zealanders who have been affected by NETs as a patient, family member or close supporter of a patient. It's a platform to share information and open lines of communication with others who may be experiencing the same issues as you. Please use this group to share knowledge and support each other.

To maintain privacy, this is a 'closed' group, which means that your posts are only shared with those within the group.

You can also follow our public Facebook page where we post general updates and information.

Another way NCNZ supports our NET Cancer community is by organising guest speakers for monthly video calls for you to join. These sessions aim to connect and educate. Often we have guest speakers who talk about a particular NET or wellbeing topic, or just offer an opportunity to connect with other NET patients, support people or HCPs around the country.

If you're new to Zoom and not sure how to connect online, just get in touch and we'd be happy to help you.

Travelling and staying in Auckland for PRRT (or other specialised NET treatment) can be overwhelming and unfamiliar. Where's the best place to park? How far is the walk from Domain Lodge to the hospital? Where can I get something to eat?

To help alleviate some of those concerns, one of our support people is just a phone call away if you have any questions or need to clarify what to expect.

If you are staying at Domain Lodge, we can assist with your grocery requirements. Just let us know!

Support for patients and support people travelling to Auckland

Mother and Son

In December 2020, Neuroendocrine Cancer NZ established a temporary support fund in recognition of the extraordinary impact that COVID-19 has had on New Zealand overall, and on our patient community in particular.

Individual patients may apply for a maximum of $1,000 support to go towards living and transport costs related to your treatments or NETs circumstances. Once your application has been received and reviewed we will be in contact with a decision on your request.
